The Government has approved setting
up of the Assam Gas Cracker Complex at village Lepetkata, Distt. Dibrugarh, Assam with
GAIL (India) Ltd. as the main promoter, under an equity arrangement of GAIL: 70%, OIL:
10%, NRL: 10% and Assam Industrial Development Corporation (Government of Assam): 10% with
a project cost of Rs. 5460.61 crores. The
Feedstock for the project will be Natural Gas and Naphtha. Oil India Ltd; (OIL) and Oil
and Natural Gas Commission (ONGC) will supply Natural Gas and Numaligarh Refinery Ltd.
(NRL) will supply Naphtha. The projects from the Petrochemical Complex shall be as
follows:
A Joint Venture Company namely
M/s. Brahmaputra Cracker & Polymer Ltd.(BCPL) was incorporated during January 2007 for
implementating this project. The Registered Office of BCPL is at Guwahati, Assam and
Project Office is at Dibrugarh, Assam.
